Historic Day

UPDATE: Bo[eh]ner has pulled out of the deal, must have had the phone call from the Koch brothers??? Asshole, missed a chance to go down in history in a good way. No one remembers extremists, we remember the deal makers. good luck next November idiots...

Not the heat on the US East Coast, but Don't Ask Don't Tell is dead (come September). The Cut Cap/Balance bill was defeated (saved us from total failure). The President and Bo[eh]ner came to an agreement on the Debt Ceiling.
If that last one goes through, I will stopp calling Jon "Bo[eh]ner", for a little while at least.

Happy day!

So, who’s Pushing For The "CUT CAP AND BALANCE Constitutional Amendment”? Health Insurance providers, of course...
If you look at H.R. 2560 what it does, is require the US Federal Gov. to not exceed 18% of GDP in spending (no matter how high or low the economy is). So this locks in spending at that level, which floats each year, and requires the Gov. to hire or fire people each year, based on GDP.

That would:
  • Wreak havoc at every FED Agency, especially DOD, because no one could do any long term planning.
  • It would screw Medicare, for sure.
  • But the big BIG deal, is that it would make a “single payer” health care system impossible. So America would be locked into funding shareholder payments to WellPoint/Wellcare’s stock holders forever.
  • It also makes it impossible to EVER pay off our National Debt. So we would be stuck just paying interest on that debt for all time.
Sound good to you?  If not, contact your Representatives.

Mitch Says What?

OK, so Mitch is obviously gunning for a new nickname, something like "Stitch Mich".  He thinks he can stitch together a proposed law letting Democrats raise the Debt Ceiling all by themselves (written by Republicans, so they can vote against it) and he really thinks it will pass?

While I think there are a few who might get scared into signing up, the majority would balk at it and force a deal.  Don't save this for the last second Mitch (and Jon), because you toy with disaster...you walking dust bag..

Can't Spell "Can't" Without Cantor

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-obama-cantor-20110623,0,6664028.story

He walks out of budget talks because they are waking up, and see we need some tax hikes.  Everyone knows we have to raise them some, take off your idealogical blindfold...idiot.

Florida's Drug Test For Welfare

"My weiner is this big"

OK, good move! Thumbs up for Rick Scott!  Yeah!!!!

http://edition.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/06/01/florida.welfare.drug.testing/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Yes, these drug taking poor people, leave them on the street. No rehab for your sorry asses! Take your babies and live in the Everglades.. Eat frogs..

At the same time, Rick fully opposes all abortions, even if these poor people pop out more poor people, who will take drugs. So get all these little drug babies into the swamps to fend for themselves... Get off the backs of the rich people. Keep having babies, doing drugs, spreading aids, and live in the swamp. Nice State Flori-duh is.

Just something I noticed, Rick looks like Max Headroom.  He is nowhere as cool..

The HOUSE Redefines "Life"

H.R.212

(SUMMARY) Sanctity of Human Life Act - Declares that: (1) the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human and is the person's paramount and most fundamental right; (2) each human life begins with fertilization, cloning, or its functional equivalent, at which time every human has all legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood; and (3) Congress, each state, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories have the authority to protect all human lives.

You can read the full text here; http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.uscongress/legislation.112hr212

I thought this was settled law?  There is a second bill with the same basic idea.  I hate abortion myself, especially late term abortions.  If it happens in the first 12-14 weeks, not so much.

Do they even think about the consequences of something like this?  They already DONT want to support poor people, but think about how many more there will be if this was to pass?  They are really just pandering to the right wing christians.  Is it wrong to oppose people who can't support their own kids, having them in the first place, when they don't want to?  Oh, "personhood" is a made up word.

Republicans Are Idiots

They pummeled the FBI Director (Mueller) this week over miranda rights for "enemy combatants".  Um, this would be the perfect time to take that power away from the Executive, and give it to law enforcement...

Just change the law, and stop beating up the Director for doing the job you told him to do...fucking asses (Jeff "DUH" Sessions)..

The Republican's Constitutional Amendment 2011

With comments..via Human Event's site.

1) Presidential Requirement to Submit a Balanced Budget: Prior to each fiscal year, the President must transmit to Congress a balanced budget that limits outlays to 18 percent of GDP.

As projected, in 2013 this would equal a little over $3TN, short $700BN of estimates.

2) Requirement to Pass a Balanced Budget: With the following limited exceptions, Congress must pass a balanced budget.

* Requires 2/3 of both Houses for a specific deficit for a fiscal year.

* Requires a majority of Congress for a specific deficit for a fiscal year during a declared war.

* Requires 3/5 of Congress for a specific deficit for a fiscal year during a military conflict declared to be “an imminent and serious military threat to national security” and the deficit must be limited to “outlays…made necessary by the identified conflict.”

Who cares about paying for our Wars? Nobody in Congress...

3) 18 Percent Spending Cap: With the following limited exceptions, Congress must limit outlays to 18 percent of GDP.

* Requires 2/3 of both Houses for a specific excess above 18 percent for a fiscal year.

* Requires a majority of Congress for a specific excess above 18 percent for a fiscal year during a declared war.

* Requires 3/5 of Congress for a specific excess above 18 percent for a fiscal year during a military conflict declared to be “an imminent and serious military threat to national security” and the excess be limited to “outlays…made necessary by the identified conflict.”

Again, who cares about paying for our Wars? Nobody in Congress...

4) Supermajority for Tax Increases: Establishes a new supermajority requirement for net tax and rate increases.

* Requires 2/3 of both Houses for any bill “that imposes a new tax or increases the statutory rate of any tax or the aggregate amount of revenue.”

* Excludes increases in revenue resulting from tax cuts.

Send in the clowns. This just means the Republicans want to protect all their tax loopholes for all their big business buddies. It would continue the attack on the middle class and poor. FAIL

5) Supermajority to Raise the Debt Limit: Establishes a new supermajority requirement for an increase in the debt limit.

* Requires 3/5 of both Houses to increase the debt limit.

* Requires a majority of Congress for a fiscal year during a declared war.

Same as #3, tedious.

6) Congressional Enforcement and Use of Estimates: Provides for congressional enforcement and the use of estimates.

They plan to hire Miss Cleo for these.

7) Limits on Courts: Prohibits courts from ordering revenue increases to enforce.

Ok WAIT, this snubs the Supreme Court from ruling on the Constitution..WTF?? It basically makes the amendment un-constitutional.

8) Effective Date: Becomes effective the fifth fiscal year after ratification.

This I actually like, it wouldn't take effect till 38 (?) States ratify it (unlikely) and Obama is leaving office.

The ONE THING this completely overlooks? Actually paying off the National Debt. This would prevent increases in debt, except for times of war, but would actually make it impossible to pay down our debt with slight revenue increases. DUH.
